The Friends is a non-profit group responsible for the Special Collection, the largest publicly accessible compilation of Bruce-related material.
The Friends of the Bruce Springsteen Special Collection is an all-volunteer organization, established in 2004, that's responsible for the Special Collection at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
The Special Collection is the world's largest publicly accessible archive of Springsteen-related material, and is dedicated to the preservation of information on the cultural legacy of Springsteen and the E Street Band. Books, song books, tour books, magazines, fanzines, Internet articles, academic journals and papers, comic books, newspaper articles, memorabilia, CDs, vinyl recordings, posters, DVDs and videos are included. Access is provided to scholars, researchers, fans, and public and private cultural institutions.
Membership in the Friends costs $50 for three years. Members receive a semiannual newsletter, an annual Springsteen-themed bookmark, a bumper sticker and access to as many as eight items at a time when using the Special Collection, along with a membership card. Members are also entitled to receive collectible backstage passes and other perks when available.
