The Hudson Valley Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: A volunteer program that works to advocate on behalf of residents of nursing homes and adult care facilities.
We are a not for profit organization that advocates for the rights of residents living in nursing homes and adult care facilities. The Hudson Valley Long Term Care Ombudsman Program serves the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster and we are currently recruiting committed volunteers to help us to fulfill our mission. To this end, we offer a free 36 hour, six session Ombudsman certification training. Upon successful completion of this training course, certified volunteers will be assigned a facility in their community where they will visit regularly to promote quality of life and quality of care by advocating and resolving resident concerns. The time commitment for this position is approximately 2-4 hours a week for a minimum of 1 year.
