MCEP is an option program offered in the Marysville School District (grades K to 8) where parents & teachers work together toward a rewarding education.
Research has shown that the greatest predictor of a child’s success in school is caregiver involvement. The MCEP is a public school option that provides just that, the opportunity for families to be involved in their student’s education.
Our success is seen in our test results, which are are among the best in the district at the elementary level and in most instances, also exceed state averages. You can get more information on scores under for the district and specific schools from the OSPI website. This is the link to Report Card for MCEP - http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/Summary.aspx?groupLevel=District&schoolId=2559&reportLevel=School&orgLinkId=2559.
At MCEP, we believe the best learning takes place...
1. in a warm supportive atmosphere, where each child is respected as an individual and where peer competition or fear of failure is not encouraged as motivators.
2. when it takes into account the uniqueness of the child's needs, interests, abilities, learning rates and styles.
3. when the child is active, manipulating objects and experimenting.
4. when the child is allowed to think independently and make choices.
5. when there is a diversity of personalities involved where the child has the opportunity to learn from peers and other children as well as from a variety of adults, including teachers, parents and community resource persons.
When you make the choice for your child to attend MCEP, you will be asked to sign a Parent Participation Agreement making a PACT to:
P - Participate in monthly parent meetings and classroom meetings.
A - Attend two field trips per school year.
C - Commit to volunteering 2½ hours of service in the classroom each week.
T - Take an active role in school business through parent council and committees.
We are a nonprofit organization governed by a council of parents, teachers and administrators.
Our Elementary program (K-5th grade) is at Marshall Elementary and our Middle School Program (6th-8th grades) is at Totem Middle School.
