The Music Industry program at The College of Saint Rose, housed in the brand-new Hearst Comm. Center in Albany, NY.
Our Music Industry curriculum provides an intense work load which includes classes in songwriting, arranging, recording engineering, record production, Pro Tools, MIDI, music business, artist management and music law. During senior year, each student is required to create a full-length album of material they have composed, arranged, rehearsed, engineered, mixed and mastered a comprehensive capstone project that reflects their achievement.
Our curriculum includes three areas: technology, music business and commercial music (songwriting, conducting, arranging, etc.). We believe our graduates need to be well versed in each of these areas because most employment opportunities involve crossover and multitasking in several areas of the music industry.
Saint Rose music industry majors can also be members of The Music Industry Association (MISA), an affiliation through Grammy University, creating an organization comprised of college and university students as well as professionals within the music industry. Students can gain both experience and the opportunity to network with industry professionals through local, regional, and national activities and events.
