A group of concerned citizens working to ensure the town of Walpole is meeting its financial obligations by living within its means.
For years, the Town of Walpole has used Proposition 2.5 overrides as a means to manage the town's finances. Between 2006 and 2014, there were 8 override proposals, almost one per year. While most of these overrides failed, it indicates a troubling pattern which demonstrates that town leadership is unable or unwilling to manage the town’s financial needs and responsibilities within the revenue streams available.
We, as a group of concerned citizens, want to work together using our collective experience and knowledge to help drive the conversation toward more responsible spending that allows the town to grow while exercising fiscal constraint and away from continuous overrides. While we understand the town has ever growing financial needs we also know that taxpayers, who themselves must live within their means, need a louder voice in how Walpole manages and spends its finances.
