Wente Scout Reservation, located east of Willits, CA off Highway 101 was the former Foley Ranch. Purchased in 1959 for just $37.00 an acre, the camp officially opened in the summer of 1964. Soon after that summer the first buildings, facilities, and the lake were constructed. The then Willits Scout Ranch was officially named Wente Scout Reservation in honor of Carl F Wente, a prominent Bay Area banker and lawyer who was an avid supporter of Scouting.
Each year we host thousands of Scouts that in recent years have come from all over California, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Florida. To educate our Scouts we have highly trained staff that we bring in from places like Oregon, Utah, Hawaii, Tennessee, Florida, even Taiwan, Chile, Egypt, and France, but mostly the San Francisco Bay Area.
We offer at least 58 Merit Badges, with the possibility of more being anounced at camp, as well as many awards to earn and lots of activities to partake in that are just fun.
