Woodworth Inc. provides a wide range of heat treatment services through our three facilities currently located in Pontiac & Flint, MI as well as Puebla, MX
Woodworth Inc. services include:
•Nanotechnology, specifically Nanowear ®, providing corrosion resistance to the oil and gas industry.
•Ferritic nitrocarburizing (FNC) of brake rotors for the auto industry, resulting in greater performance of the rotor, enhanced durability, noise reduction, and decreased friction. The end result is longer life of the part, allowing extended warranty periods and rust-free brakes.
•Ultrawear ® is applied to steel components to increase wear resistance. It also increases the material strength properties as well as increasing its resistance to corrosion.
Woodworth is currently heat treating in excess of 1.5 million pounds per day.
Nanowear® is applied to components used in the oil and gas industry to reduce corrosion and increase wear resistance. It also helps resist erosion and abrasion while increasing the fatigue strength of the base material. Top coats can also be applied to reduce the coefficient of friction.
Woodworth Incorporated’s Nanowear ® technology is a thermal chemical diffusion process. It is important to note that it is not a coating. Nanowear ® is a nanotechnology and alters the base material’s structure at the molecular level.
•Creates a hard outside layer that can exceed Rockwell C 70 but remain ductile.
•Creates a continuous layer of nitrogen at the surface to significantly reduce corrosion
•Diffusion zone, typically 10 (ten) Rockwell points greater than the core hardness.
•Nanowear ® is a “green” technology
Applications that can benefit:
•Fluid End Bodies
•Artificial Lift - ESP
•Fluid End Valves and Seats
•Offshore Housings
•Centralizers
•Blowout Preventer pistons, shafts, casings
•Drilling Rig Bases
•Pipelines
•Wellhead Components
•Drilling Rig Housings
Ferritic nitrocarburizing (FNC), also known as soft nitriding, is applied to carbon steels, HSLA, tool steels, alloy steels and stainless steels to provide anti-galling wear resistance and a measure of corrosion resistance. FNC can improve the fatigue life of your part and enhance the wear characteristics of forging and stamping dies, fixtures, gears, slides, molds, etc.
